The Astrology of April 2013 - Fusion Reaction

Astrology Forecast for April 2013

Fusion Reaction

Recap

Since December, the charts have been about individuals wrestling the world into more livable shape.

March’s chart asked us to adjust our most important personal bonds to better suit economic realities and our own long-term financial needs.

April

In April, there is an intense energetic focus on the 6th house. Generally speaking, the 6th house governs those relationships that make life economically possible, for us and those who depend on us.

In April, our aspirations for a better future will collide with the realities of today’s workplace, and vice versa. We will need to make fateful economic decisions in turbulent and confusing circumstances and act upon them.

Troublesome Stellium in the Sixth House

Chiron, the Vertex, the Arabic Lot of Accusation, Neptune in Pisces, and Nessus in Aquarius are all in the 6th house. Chiron and the Vertex are closely conjunct.

The 6th house supports the clear, practical mode of thought required in the workplace. “Clear” and “practical” is not how I would describe the influences affecting the workplace in April.

Pisces and Aquarius at Work in Virgo

Pisces sets on the cusp of the 7th house but occupies most of the 6th House.

Pisces governs our connection with Spirit. Spiritualizing Neptune governs Pisces and is presently in spiritualizing Pisces.

Such an overwhelmingly spiritual force will create highly problematic conditions in the normally practical, down-to-earth 6th house.

Mercury, Chiron and Virgo, at home in the 6th house, like well and carefully defined terms with a dash of inspiration. They help maintain the needed balance and order in a place that is prone to imbalance and disorder. Chiron adds the inspiration that keeps it all from becoming drudgery.

Pisces and Neptune, by contrast, render things abstract, idealistic, otherworldly and indistinct. The inspiration they provide tends to be of the unrealistic variety.

People will yearn for escape from the rigors of work. Work relationships will lose clarity and transform in ways that are difficult to understand or to control.

April’s eclipse will nonetheless render decisions made in April irreversible.

In some workplaces, April will bring chaos, in others it will reset the balance between management and labor, between work and home. Overall, it will remind the world of its need for labor unions to represent the interests of the working people.

Aquarius is on the Cusp of the 6th House, home of Virgo, Mercury and Chiron.

Aquarius instills ideals of brotherhood and sisterhood and the motivation needed to realize those ideals. On the cusp of the 6th house, Aquarius will intensify the idealism instilled by Pisces, further disrupting the atmosphere of the workplace.

This Aquarius/Pisces/Virgo energy is conducive to reform. But it also inclines us to unrealistic thinking.

Material and Spiritual Foundations Shake

Aquarius, Pisces and Virgo (ruler of the 6th house) make for a highly paradoxical energy combination. Spirit confronts matter directly, throwing our world view into disarray.

We experience spiritual and material turbulence and a clash of economic and spiritual needs.

Our willingness to take risks for the sake of a better life will peak. Nothing will seem as obvious or clear to us as it once did.

Point by Point in Pisces

Chiron is in Pisces in the 6th house.

Chiron breaks down barriers between the personality and the Soul and builds connections between them.

Chiron transforms through the power of insight and inspiration or through illness and injury.

Chiron is placed in a house where it is strong (the 6th), but a sign in which it is weak (Pisces). Pisces is Virgo’s opposite sign. Their dynamics are in direct conflict. Hence, Chiron will manifest strongly, but not always in the kindest, gentlest or most efficient way.

Catalyst

The Vertex is in Pisces closely conjunct Chiron, in the 6th House, placed near the Descendant, a very sensitive point in the chart.

The Vertex is a catalyst. It ‘synergizes’ events that trigger needed adjustments.

The Chiron/Vertex combination in Pisces is so strong it is unlikely that we can avoid disruptive, uncomfortable encounters in the workplace.

The Ghost of Misdeeds Past Haunt the Workplace

The Lot of Accusation (point of substance) is in Pisces in the 6th House, close to Chiron and the Vertex on one side and Neptune on the other.

The Lot of Accusation marks a point of great personal vulnerability or karmic liability. It can bring accusations, blame or suspicions that we find upsetting, hard to deflect and must confront alone.

A feeling of personal responsibility for past wrongs will affect our judgment and spark ‘adjustments’ in relations at work and with those who depend on us economically, or vice versa.

Economic misdeeds that negatively affect working people will be revealed, again.

Emotional Minefields

Neptune is in Pisces in the 6th House.

Combined with Chiron, the Vertex, and the Lot of Accusation, the influence of Neptune appears ever more dark and complex.

Their influence will combine with Neptune’s to dredge up shame, embarrassment, guilt and suspicion. The Vertex can create events that give expression to these troubling and potentially dangerous feelings.

Shared Guilt

Nessus is in Aquarius on the cusp of the 6th House.

Nessus points to serious culpability or karmic debt forged by collective misdeeds. This guilt can manifest as bad conscience, chronic illness or, for example, protracted legal difficulties.

Here, Nessus triggers consequences of past failings at work or in our dealings with those who relied on us financially, or on whom we relied. And it makes everything we just said about Chiron, the Vertex and the Lot of Accusation more so.

All Told

Essentially, then, April brings us a collision of expectation and reality in the workplace. It also dredges up bad feelings from the past - old grievances, old guilt.

There will be difficult and revealing emotional confrontations on the job.

Labor and management relations will become increasingly problematic. More workplace tragedies are possible.

A Point of no Return

There is a lunar eclipse in Scorpio on the 25th.

The lunar eclipse will trigger both long-awaited and unexpected crises. Economic decisions made and actions taken during this turbulent and confusing time will be fateful and irreversible.

In my view, this eclipse will further strengthen progressive voices as it moves us further beyond the conservative-friendly planetary placements that dominated the last years of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st.

Sign-by-Sign Astrology Forecast for April 2013

Astrology Forecast for April 2013

For All Signs

April will be a month of breakthroughs we never expected to see. There are issues in our lives and in our world that seem too hard, too dangerous, or maybe too painful to address, taboos we thought we would never break. April is the month that we do it. These intimidating issues will suddenly arise before us, the only thing standing between ourselves and goals we thought forever out of our reach. When you find yourself in that spot, don’t hesitate to move forward.

Sign-by Sign

♈ ARIES ~ (Mar. 20 - Apr. 18) The pressure to reorganize your finances continues. This stage of reorganization could affect your personal life more seriously than previous ones. You’ve had confrontations you had been hoping to avoid. This time, you’ll need to address issues you hoped you’d never have to dredge up. The reward for resolving these issues will be dramatic for all concerned and go far beyond the merely financial. Settling these issues will help put your life on the right track and open up inspiring new possibilities for you.

♉ TAURUS ~ (Apr. 19 - May 19) Others are enduring life-changing events, often involving hardship or loss. Remorse over past actions and fear of repeating past mistakes are clouding their judgment. People are at an important turning point and need guidance. Your ability to see patterns is heightened. Your own inner life is unusually rich these days, too. Your unconscious is hyperactive and insights flood your mind. Helping others find clarity will help give your own life direction and form. Efforts to re-organize your personal finances will go very well, too.

♊ GEMINI ~ (May 20 - June 19) April is a lucky, but also rather complicated month for Gemini. Life is demanding a more responsible approach. Many considerations you might have ignored in the past will have to be taken seriously, now. Financial matters will go well, but increased cash flow will be quickly absorbed by obligations you ignored before or just didn’t know about. You can adjust to these new demands in ways that enhance your standing and income potential. Challenges will turn immediately into opportunities to showcase your abilities.

♋ CANCER ~ (June 20 - July 21) Cancerians need to upgrade their already considerable ability to nurture others. The upgrade is simple, though.  Powerful creative forces are at work in your unconscious, so it should go smoothly. Cancerians need to be more detached and disciplined - less indulgent and more objective - and require the same of others. Partners need to be less affectionate, say, and more objective and fair-minded in dealing with each other. A calm objectivity will strengthen and preserve fraying emotional bonds. Events will quickly prove you right.

♌ LEO ~ (July 22 - Aug. 21) Leo’s prefer bright, warm venues, cheery story lines and receptive audiences. But April brings moody lighting, tough lines, and a nervous audience with short attention spans. You’ll need to deliver lines about people being much more honest with themselves, and about taking more responsibility. People need to hear this message now and it will benefit them a great deal. Be attentive to financial issues. Overly complex financial deals leave room for mischief - and loss. Simple and clear terms are best. Friends are unusually supportive.

♍ VIRGO ~ (Aug. 22 - Sept. 21)  The world is saturated with seductive messages; pheromones fill the air. Virgos conceal their discomfort with that stuff to fit in. But they should be more forthcoming about their Platonic side. Help others see its benefits. It’s a tough sell, but people do need to put less energy into their intimate lives and more into meeting life’s challenges. If you can convince others to keep their minds on the task at hand, everyone’s economic problems will clear up more quickly. Show how it’s done.

♎ LIBRA ~ (Sept. 22 - Oct. 21) Fate has placed Librans in unstable circumstances. Conditions require constant adjustment and reliance on the generosity and integrity of others. It’s hard to set boundaries. Others exert too much influence over your feelings. Workplace politics are unusually deceptive. Keep the terms of all your relationships as simple and clear as possible. Avoid dependency or ‘imbalances.’ This advice applies to your intimate life, too. Learning to function effectively in these circumstances will grant you unparalleled people handling skills. Pay attention to health and wellness issues.

♏ SCORPIO ~ (Oct. 22 - Nov. 20) It’s time for Scorpios to decide what they feel about their more intimate friendships and romantic attachments. Deceptive and problematic influences are at work in these areas. Clarifying and communicating these feelings is a required first step in rectifying these close and important relationships. Communicate your feelings clearly. If nobody knows where you stand on these matters, it will be hard to attract the right kind of relationships, or to make your closest relationships what you need them to be.

♐ SAGITTARIUS ~ (Nov. 21 - Dec. 20)  Financial trends are favorable for Sagittarians. Psychologically, not so much. Difficult memories and old issues are stirring uncomfortable emotions. It’s partly personal and partly about the world around you. Don’t avoid them. These issues are being foregrounded by the very insight and motivation you need to deal with them. This is an opportunity to address issues that seemed too deep to ever resolve, to clear the way for advances that seemed impossible. Taking them head on will be far easier and more rewarding than you think.

♑ CAPRICORN ~ (Dec. 21 - Jan. 18) Capricorns are not the most trusting, risk-loving bunch. These inclinations might serve them quite well, sometimes, but they are especially strong and especially unhelpful now, in areas crucial to Capricorn’s future. Capricorns need to open up, to explain their ideas and expand a shrinking circle of allies and supporters. The planets will look favorably on deals made in April; both wealth and fame are on the table. It would be a shame to miss out because of groundless suspicion or an excess of caution.

♒ AQUARIUS ~ (Jan. 19 - Feb. 17) Aquarians are viewed as optimists, willing to work and fight for their ideas. But, truth to tell, they can also worry and fret. The latter inclination will be apparent in April. Aquarians could worry that the “establishment” will interfere and scuttle their plans. But April is not the month for Aquarius to hesitate or indulge doubt. There are powerfully supportive influences at work and they are very much in harmony with Aquarian aspirations. Cooperation with the establishment on selected issues will only enhance success.

♓ PISCES ~ (Feb. 18 - Mar. 19) Pisceans are being powerfully motivated to build a better life. The planetary winds are at their back, supporting their efforts.  Build a network of like-minded allies and project your intentions into the world around you.  Create a space in your life where you can do things your way. This will almost certainly spark resistance. You’ll need to defend your plans at home, too. Don’t avoid the issues you have always avoided, not this time. It’s important to tackle the tough issues, economic and otherwise.

The Astrology of March 2013 - Shuffling the Political and Economic Deck

The Astrology of March 2013

Shuffling the Political and Economic Deck

In March, the world will become a more hopeful place as our understanding of the issues before us deepens. Divisive bumper sticker rhetoric will give way to more in depth analysis.

There will be progress and movement away from the brink of crisis. Drama and turbulence are likely, too, but things will improve.

March will also be about changing the economic facets of our relationships with family, friends, employers, businesses, institutions and government agencies.

People will be inclined to raise difficult issues, pointedly. We could feel defensive or exposed, as others home in on our Achilles heel, our guiltier secrets - probably unintentionally. Our feelings of culpability could make us more willing to see the other side of the issue, or it could make us overreact.

There will also be more disturbing revelations about how economically important institutions - legal, medical, financial, religious and military, e.g. - conduct business.

Some will use the confusion and drama to mask cynical, self-serving power plays.

But, more important, March’s chart strongly supports those who pursue their own truth, wisely and with discipline and foresight.

This chart encompasses the Spring Equinox. Hence the themes touched upon here will remain relevant for some months into the future.

The Astrological Details

Power is concentrated in the 7th and 8th houses. Nine important indicators are crowded into these two houses.

The 7th house governs our important relationships with individuals as individuals. The 8th house governs relationships with groups, organizations or institutions on whom we depend for security, support and other social resources.

A Walk on the Wild Side

Sun and Venus are conjunct in Pisces in the 8th; Mars and Uranus are conjunct in Aries in the 8th.

These are powerful combinations of energy whose effects will be hard to predict and harder to manage.

They are especially strong placements because of house and sign rulerships, planetary dignities, and so on.

They are also paradoxical, awkward placements.  For example, Venus is in a sign (Pisces) that evokes its highest expression, but in a house (the 8th) that encourages its lowest expression.

Uranus is strengthened in the 8th house. So is Mars. But in conjunction, Mars and Uranus produce ill-conceived, disruptive acts of self-assertion. Here, it suggests rash financial decisions.

The 8th house stellium also points to intense and unconventional sexual activity, likely born of ulterior financial motives. A long talk would be much safer in the end than a roll in the sack. Maybe it always is.

Outing the Skeletons in Our Closets

Chiron, Mercury and Neptune are in Pisces in the 7th; the Lot of Accusation (Point of Substance) and Nessus are exactly conjunct in Aquarius close to the cusp of  the 7th house, near the Descendant.

Key relationships can come apart in distressing, even painful ways.

  • The Point of Substance or Lot of Accusation (an Arabic Part) brings painful moments of truth, embarrassing accusations and hurtful suspicions we have a hard time refuting. It puts us on the defensive.

  • Nessus (a so-called centaur) brings deep feelings of guilt or personal responsibility that haunt our subconscious. Bad Nessus can also cause serious, perhaps chronic medical conditions.

A sense of guilt or shame, or acute embarrassment, could inject deeply uncomfortable and highly disruptive emotions into our interactions.

The P. of Substance and Nessus are angular, too. They will affect every area of our lives. Everyone should tread lightly. Avoid judgmentalism. Individually, people might stray onto emotionally sensitive ground. Others, sensing an advantage, could take advantage of our discomfort.

On the macro-level, Nessus could bring revelations of wrongdoing in high places, perhaps on a grand scale.

Melodrama

This potent combination of forces in the 7th and 8th houses points to an extreme reordering of personal priorities, loyalties and affections and economic affairs. Some disruption in some important relationships is probably inevitable for all of us.

The 8th house Mars/Uranus influence in particular points to complex legal and economic maneuvers. It also suggests unconventional tactics and manipulative behavior.

This is an especially bad time to take romantic overtures at face value.

Trouble at Home

Juno is in Aquarius in the 6th house of dependence and interdependence.

Juno governs government sanctioned, long-term bonds like marriage.

Juno seeks long-term stability and is unhappy in the 6th house of employment and economic interdependence. It doesn’t want our most important personal bonds infected with workplace-style politics.

The Good, the Bad, and  . . .

March’s chart has a dense matrix of supportive and blocking aspects anchored in the 7th and 8th houses.

Typically, people use supportive aspects to detour around the blocking aspects, avoiding numerous important issues.

. . . the Somewhere in Between

Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are bound together in a double, or “Siamese Yod.”

A double Yod, or “Siamese Yod,” links the easy and difficult aspects in a complicated, destabilizing, disorienting way.

Yods create irresolvable dilemmas. Efforts to solve them shift our perspective kaleidoscopically, repeatedly.

With a Yod at work, people can’t just use supportive aspects to detour around the blocking aspects - to charge down the path of least resistance.  Nor can they get away with using a bogus argument to support a bad idea. People will see through it very quickly. Events will quickly reveal it for what it is. Doubly so for a double Yod.

The Downward Pointing Yod

Jupiter is in Gemini in the 10th, sextile Mars and Uranus in Aries in the 8th. Saturn is in Scorpio in the 4th, quincunx Jupiter and Mars/Uranus. It forms the apex of the downward pointing Yod.

The downward pointing Yod is about the limitations of change.

The Jupiter-Mars/Uranus sextile would facilitate the development of expensive safety-net programs, for example. Saturn, operating in the 4th house, at the grassroots, would demand fairness, discipline, careful planning and attention to costs.

The Upward Pointing Yod

Saturn in Scorpio in the 4th sextiles Pluto in Capricorn in the 5th. Both are quincunx Jupiter in Gemini in the 10th.

The upward pointing Yod is about managing economic change.

Saturn and Pluto, operating through the grassroots, demand order, discipline and careful planning. They also suggest the possibility of hardship and extraordinary exertion.

These demands of Saturn and Pluto are frustrated by the realities of wealth creation (Jupiter in Gemini in the 10th), which bring virtually uncontrollable and unavoidable change.

From Tug of War to Dance

March’s aspects will destroy efforts to deal with issues in the same old confrontational manner. People will try to deploy the same old simplistic bumper sticker arguments in support of divisive, polarizing positions.  But the double Yod will head off any such efforts by making the complexities and subtleties of an issue perhaps painfully obvious.

The Promise of the Planets

Saturn, the North Node and the Part of Fortune are all in Scorpio in the 4th not far from the Imum Coeli.

The North Node is the point in a chart where the spiritual and material resources of the individual converge most harmoniously to bring about the best possible outcome.

The Part of Fortune is the point at which everything that defines individual identity combine most harmoniously to produce the best result.

In March, this powerful confluence of powerfully supportive influences will vigorously support our efforts to bring order to our hearts, our minds, our lives, and the world around us.
